Song Question:
Help--60's song title/lyrics--

My husband sings this song all the time but doesn't know the name, who did it, or anything about it other than:

Seventeen street lights standing in between my house and yours.
How do I know? I count them every night.
While following you from my house to yours.
Even though you don't know, I'm with you all the way.
Wish somehow you knew how much I've been in love with you.
And I wish that you could stay.

(Something about counting all the lights on his way home.)

Another verse is something like:

Twenty-seven cracks in the sidewalk that leads from my house to yours.
How do I know? I count them every day
While following you from my house to yours.
Even though you don't know, I'm with you all the way.
Wish somehow you knew how long I've been in love with you.
And I wish that you could stay.

Please help if you can provide any information!

Sidewalk Song/27th Street
by: Anonymous

"The Sidewalk Song" was written by songwriter/producer & arranger Jimmy Webb for Johnny Rivers in 1967 which appeared on his "Rewind" album.

Richard Harris, with the guidance of Jimmy Webb, recorded "The Sidewalk Song" for inclusion on his 1971 album, "My Boy" and shined on telling the story of the lyrics with emotion unlike any before.

Written & arranged by: Jimmy Webb
