1980s jazz rap/hip hop song searched for

Am looking for a mid to late 80s jazzy rap song, sung by someone sounding like Gang Starr of that very period in time though He doesn't seem to have it in his repertoire of those days.

This song is tender rather than hard around the edges, suggesting some sort of pleading for a chic's love. I thought I heard "Baby, baby, I love you so" in the song, very love drunk the voice, but I may be wrong. Yet, "baby" occurs very numerous times in the song. The musical track is quite cool and moves forward rapidly, somewhat like Gang Starr's transit (Brooklyn) track.

Years ago I accidentally deleted that track of an old tape; every regretted it since and never been able to relocate it.
If someone has an idea, I'd much appreciate pointers.
Many thanks in advance.
