1990s Songs

The 1990’s was a big departure from the fun of the 1970’s and the 1980’s. Things became more serious which was needed in some ways. This decade didn’t have as many standouts, but it does bring to mind laid back, messy clothing styles, big baggy pants, body piercing, the start of reality shows, environmentalism, pagers, SUV’s, Furby, the Internet, Napster, PlayStation, Pokemon, Doom, Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider, Lollapalooza, the Macarena, grunge, techno, hip hop, and alternative rock.

Grunge music basically wiped out “hair-metal” and ushered in a new style of music – alternative. Popular artists of the 90's included Ace Of Base, Aerosmith, Alice In Chains, Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men, Toni Braxton, Garth Brooks, Mariah Carey, Collective Soul, Coolio, Counting Crows, Sheryl Crow, Destiny’s Child, Celine Dion, Green Day, Chris Isaak, Jewel, Lenny Kravitz, LL Cool J, Madonna, Ricky Martin Sarah McLachlan, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, 98 Degrees, No Doubt, Notorious B.I.G., the Offspring, Puff Daddy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M., Busta Rhymes, Will Smith, the Spice Girls, Sugar Ray, 10,000 Maniacs, TLC, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Shania Twain, 2 Pac and U2.
