Curious about a song I heard in school in the 1960s

by Linda

It's a song i heard as a child in the 1960s. It sings about a train travelling past villages and farms, by plantations and plains.......on travels the train, train of the sierra, bound for Recife, passes .....and runs on down to the sea...runs on down to the sea... It finishes with humming. mmm-mmmm, mmm-mmmmmm

I don't remember anything of the instrumental size - voice was the dominant sound.. smooth medium tempo singing.

That's it - I would just love to know its origins, who sang it and its complete lyrics if at all possible. Thanks
