Mid 90's soft pop hit - sung by a male who sounded an awful lot like Richard Marx

(Woburn)

I remember it as a slow pop song, with some piano accompaniment sung by a male who sounded an awful lot like Richard Marx. The song began with slow piano playing, while the singer same with the notes. I can't be sure, but the chorus might have included the line, "All alone, at the end of the day." The middle of the song was crescendo, with more instruments joining in as the lead singer sang with more feeling. The end of the song was again the piano and just the singer. I only heard the song a few times in the summer of either 96 or 97, so I would imagine it didn't rise too high on the charts, but I thought it mournful and hurting.
