Slow Rock Song

by Mae

Looking for the title of a rock song:

-Late 1970's/1980's
-Slow music (I THINK it speeds up towards the end), has short piano intro and male singing (probably a band made this song).

-The piano intro and some parts of the song are actually quite similar to "Beth" by Kiss but it is not this song. This song is very classic, comparable to "Last Kiss" (Pearl Jam) or "Glycerine" (Bush) - one of those songs that everyone knows but it is hardly ever played on the radio.

-Popular song that is played for memorial services; it is a slow, sad song.
-The only part of the song I remember is a short part about how he (the singer) used to be best friends with a guy but they drifted apart.
