summer themed song

I heard this beautiful romantic slowly sung song about a summer evening on a juke box around 1976 at a diner and failed to get the title of it or who sung it. It was out at the same time as Paul Anka's hit song, You're Havin' My Baby and my husband and I had just played that song on the juke box. I thought this was another lovely song written by and sung by Paul Anka but now I'm not was definitely sung by a man, and the lyrics were about walking along the beach at night, under the moon I think by a summer beach house and then heading back to the house...that was the mood of the song and what the lyrics were about although it could have taken place in the late afternoon or at sunset can't remember, reminded my of our summers out on Fire Island and Cape's been very frustrating trying to remember who sang this song and what song it was!
