Trying to find name of song from late 70's-early 80's

I am trying to find the Artist/Title of a song from my childhood. I believe the song is from the late 70's-early 80's era. It is a slower type of love song. There is a male singer that repeats the line, "la la la la la la la" several times throughout the song, and the song fades out with "la la la la la la la la." The song is sort of a slow love song, not really a country song. I have heard the song a few times in places like Rite Aid, but I can't think of who sings it. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Did the singer sound British? Did it have the line at the end "I think the time is near...where I will disappear"; a few more words, then a la la la la fadeout? If so, I would like to know also
