What song is this? Late 90's / early 00's (I think) R&B-Pop song

The singer is a young black woman with a voice quite like Mýa - it could be her but I can't find it in her discography.

The song theme is about a guy she loves that other people might not approve of or think has the qualities she should look for in a boyfriend (money, cool car, status etc) but she loves him because of who he is and how he makes her feel.

Lyrics I can remember are, in the chorus, either or both:

'It don't matter to me'
'I don't care what they say'

And in another section she sings that what she looks for in a guy is someone who:h

'Tells you that he loves you and he'll always be around.'

The music has a horn sounding upward progression in it too. I think it builds up as it gets closer to the chorus starting.
